So as Summer nears its end and I start to feel better about the appalling weather we have had lately I have realised that I have been quiet on here and on FB lately.  So what have I been up to?  Well if you follow my Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/andrewwinterphotography/) then you will see that I have been posting photo’s over the weeks and so you will know that I have not disappeared or vanished.  I have continued to take photo’s and now have a massive back log of images to sort through and process before I can release them on the world.  These kind of jobs are easier to do when it is cold and raining outside so I tend to always find myself in this position at the end of every Summer.  I had to change my phone as my old IPhone died and could not be resurrected so I now use a Huawei P10, which has the most amazing camera and more importantly control over every aspect of image taking, almost as much as my DSLR, so for those following on Instagram you will hopefully have noticed an improvement in the images.  It also has all of those ‘Filters’ that people who know nothing about photography like to use all over FB to look trendy.

So out and about daily with the dogs I have been taking images and I made an effort to capture as many of the Steam Trains that pass by my house over the summer, sometimes up to three a week.  Over the coming winter months it is reduced to one a month, so I am hoping I can get out to photograph them on a sunny day when it is cold and I am not otherwise busy.  On these days they puff out the white smoke, so the images are harder to capture for a variety of reasons but they look so much better.  Here is one I took last year of ‘The Tornado’ which I am particularly proud of.

As for the coming months, Autumn is my favourite time of the year as it is so full of colour and generally there are less people around at my favourite spots and so I have some ideas for images and projects I would like to try to fit in.  I also have a bunch of stuff I would like to achieve which I either keep putting off or get distracted from and the years seem to be passing by, so I really need to get down to getting organised and seeing if I an put any of my plans into action over the winter.
