A very rewarding few weeks.

The past few weeks have been so much fun.  I have met lots of lovely dogs and their owners and have seen so much love between them it’s hard to put into words.  For those who have never experienced having a dog, it’s really hard to describe.  I have started to show the images to clients and I have been receiving some lovely feedback and gaining 5 star reviews on my feedback cards which gives me the determination to keep improving my business and offer an unrivalled experience, whilst creating artwork that clients will invest in and treasure for a lifetime.

Every dog is special and to their owner they are the most treasured possession.  As I undergo the viewings I will share some of the images I have taken, but I wanted to briefly share stories from the four sessions related to the images above.

The first image is AJ, a Fox Terrier x Poodle.  Full of life and fun, slightly naughty as all terries are, this session can be remembered for the mud and the fact that AJ fell into the pond whilst trying to have a drink.  Very funny as he clambered out revealing his ‘chicken legs’ and no longer looking his ‘best’.  Real life photography is what I enjoy and so this really made the shoot memorable.  Also, a wet dog in a black and white image can look stunning.

The second image is of Hollie the Jack Russell and her ball. The day after the shoot Hollie was in the vets for an operation to remove some lumps, which unfortunately have turned out to be signs of an aggressive sarcoma.  She’s been undergoing CT scans and further tests and the latest news I heard was that they were waiting to find out whether she would have to loose a leg or not.  Breaks your heart and I wish her all the very best.  I’m glad we had a good day and I managed to capture some lovely images of her.

The third image is Peach.  This 16 year old Terrier cross is something special, rescued later on in life from a kennel, unable to look after himself, he is now a different dog and is lovingly looked after by his new family.  He also has a brother Bear, who is a Chihuahua cross Jack Russell and only has one eye.  Special people are those that take on dogs like these.  Having met both of them, they are officially the smallest dogs I have ever worked with.

The fourth image is Luna, the Springer Spaniel x Labrador.  Beautiful light and a great location made for some stunning images.  There’s not been much sun lately so this was special.  Luna has many different ‘looks’ and these came across in her images, sometimes looking like a puppy as in this image, in others she looks like a working gun dog.  In one image she has a weird look on her face, something to do with how her lip is caught on her gum.  Anyway I wasn’t sure about putting it in the collection but it turns out it’s known as her ‘Elvis’ lip and is something she is known to do.  I learnt to never pre-empt the client and put in all the good images no matter what as I might have just caught something special and unique.

So more images and stories to come and more shots to go on in the coming week.
