The British Wildlife Centre - Members Open Evening 2016

Yesterday was the annual Members Open Evening at the British Wildlife Centre.  Weather was perfect, not too hot and sunny and thankfully no rain.  There has been a lot of rain around lately but yesterday was just right for the animals.

The evening is an opportunity for members to have access to the park from 5 - 8pm after the general public have left.  This is a great chance to see the animals up close, chat to the keepers who put on extra talks and last night brought out the harvest mice for us all to get up close to and see.

There have been a lot of new arrivals at the centre and we saw a few of them, from the Scottish wildcat kittens to the baby polecats.  The stoats and weasels were also out putting on a fun display for everyone as were the pine martens.  We even saw the edible dormouse in the nocturnal house, which is a rare sighting.  Oh and the hedgehog who came out with a keeper to say hello.

Another great evening and plenty of photo’s taken which you will eventually get to see in the BWC folder here on the site once I have been through the editing process with them.

I am also ware I promised you there photo’s from the pond, especially of the tiny spiders.  I’ll do my best to get to these this week.

I’ll leave with you with a photo of one of the Scottish wildcat’s last night which was taken on my phone in low light just as I was leaving.
