My Friend Peanut

What a week it has been.  I changed my car which after a very long time felt like loosing an old friend but it had to be done in order to move on with things this year.

On Saturday I woke up to find that Peanut, one of my rabbits was unwell and had to rush him to the vets knowing that rabbits hide their illnesses and can go downhill fast.

He had an upper respiratory breathing issue but a low temperature, almost  2 1/2 degrees lower than normal, which is unusual as normally a higher temperature would be associated with a virus infection.  He was also having trouble moving and was not comfortable.  So the vet did what she could and dosed him up and I brought him home for some care.  Unfortunately he went downhill quickly soon after and I had to run him to another vet later on in the afternoon.  While waiting in the car park for our appointment as I sat with him, chatting away, he peacefully passed away on a nice warm sunny afternoon.

With no sign of illness at all, even when I put him to bed the night before after he sat and ate his dinner as normal with Ginger (our other rabbit) this has been hard to take.  Especially as no reason can be found and the vets were not sure as the symptoms contradicted each other.  I don’t need to tell all of you animal loving people out there about how it feels to loose a friend, but when it is so quick and so sudden it is incredibly difficult to deal with.

Thankfully Ginger is ok.  She spent the Saturday afternoon cuddled up to Peanut so knew he wasn’t well and as rabbits grieve as well I feared the worst.  But she is eating and I am spending time with her, giving her plenty to explore in her hutch and will hopefully have news of a new boyfriend for her next week as rabbits do not like be on their own.

In other news I have opened up the last of my Charity Photoshoots in aid of the Dogs Trust for those who have not visited yet. Details and booking are HERE.  For previous clients I have removed the booking fee for returning dogs for May and June as a special offer, details can be found HERE.

These will be the last photoshoots in Surrey for the time being so if you have been sitting on the fence then I encourage you to book in now as they will go fast and will not be available after June 2022.

See you soon.
